Recently a friend of PARD saw a promotion on Facebook and thought "hmm, PARD would be a deserving recipient of a contest happening over at Canpressco" (true story). So she tagged us in the post and shared it with her friends...and then a few more friends tagged us and shared it with their friends...and well you can probably guess how this story ends! PARD was gifted a $250 cheque from Canpressco just because we have nice friends! There were many deserving entries and we were delighted to win. Thank you to everyone who took a few moments to tag us and share the post. That cheque equals about a month's board for one of our guys so we are very happy to receive it! And thank you Canpressco for your donation.

On top of everything else our volunteers do, a select few have been going out to the site weekly to erect the first building before the snow flies. Last week, Kathy sent around this picture, and what a beautiful sight it is, despite the ominous looming clouds in the background! Kathy, Dave, Julia, Paul and everyone else that helped get this finished are just the every day heroes PARD is ever-so-grateful to have! Thank you! As the long days of winter surround us with cold and darkness, it was fun to brighten the mood and get into the spirit of the season by spending it with friends the annual Warsaw Santa Clause Parade. More than a dozen floats stung with lights and donned with carolers and music made their way from the Works building, twisting and turning along side the river and into the town of Warsaw for the spectacular tree lighting ceremony. The streets were lined with spectators, hundreds of them, reminding me of how important gatherings like this are in our communities and in our lives. Too often we find ourselves feeling burdened by the commitment of travel and social gatherings at this time of year, that we forget to pause and take in the beauty of it all. Tonight was a beautiful night but my camera could not capture the magic of the colouful floats in the dark night, or the glimmer in my children's eye when Santa waved at them. Just as words will never express my gratitude and amazement for this selfless group of volunteers who built this float just to bring joy to the lives of others. You're giving will never cease to inspire me.
For everyone reading this: My wish for you this holiday season is that you may find peace and joy with the ones you love and let laughter rejuvenate your soul. ~Angie Muir, Chair On Saturday October 28th, 2018 about 80 people came out the Ranch Resort in Bethany to enjoy live country music in the style of the The Grand Ol' Opry. Organizers Connie Lausen-Pappas along with Jane and Nick and their staff at the Ranch Resort in Bethany approached PARD in the summer abou the fundraiser. Organizers arranged for local musicians, including recording artist Tami J. Wilde to perform cover songs as well as originals showcasing the great talent the area has to offer.
Proceeds from the silent auction as well as contributions from ticket sales raised over $700 for PARD Therapeutic Riding. A special thanks to the local brewery 'on tap' that night who donated $1 from the sale of each of can purchased. PARD would also like to thank all those who gave their time to organize the event, as well as those who attended and made the evening a spooktacular success! Thanks to our wonderful volunteers PARD was able to provide therapy to 24 participants this season. We had 46 volunteers this season (65% returning from last year) contributing an estimated 1302 volunteer hours this past season, including time spent planning and delivering the regular program, raising funds, and constructing the new tack building. We couldn't be more grateful for your support and we love hearing stories from both riders (and their families) as well as volunteers about how much they enjoyed the season. A special thank you goes our to our dedicated instructors for the time and care put into each lesson.
Volunteers are encouraged to stay connected via facebook to keep up-to-date on events over the winter such as our planning meeting and our annual BINGO! fundraiser. We hope to see everyone again in the new year! |
