PARD offers therapeutic riding lessons to anyone living in the Peterborough area that would benefit from the program regardless of ages, ability, or financial means. Certified Instructors work with riders, their caregivers, and a physiotherapist or occupational therapist to develop an individualized lesson plan for each rider using the tools and knowledge gained over years of training and experience. The result is fun summer of horseback riding lessons which build on the riders social, emotional, psychological and physical strengths in a non-clinical environment. Lessons are offered Tuesday and Thursday evenings at our location just north of Peterborough in the township of Douro-Dummer. The program runs approximately 10 weeks during the summer and serves over 20 riders. There are 1-4 riders in each lesson, and 4 lessons each evening. Due to the high demand for services and our capacity as a volunteer-run charity we often have a waitlist for riders wanting to attend the program. Intake riders are considered for open spots each spring based on fit by horse and group, and not necessarily on a first come-first served basis. For more information about joining the program, please send us an email with a phone number you can be reached at and one of our Director's will discuss your situation personally.
All forms must be completed, and submitted to PARD before your name is placed on the waitlist.
